Beautiful graduated necklace is comprised of phenolic resin barrels alternated with woven bronze and sodalite beads. Kakamba beads are used as spacers. Each of the 14 woven beads took between 1 1/2 - 3 hours to weave. A one of a kind necklace.
Phenolic resin - sometimes called African Amber - were created in the early 1900's because of the difficulty getting amber. They are light weight, easier to carve, and more durable. The technique for make kakamba beads began in the late 1800's and done into the early 1900's.
